Stephen at Work
I’ve been working with computers since my freshman year of college but have played around with them for as long as I can remember. I continuously strive to broaden my knowledge of the IT world and look for emerging technologies to learn and adopt.
I love problem-solving and thrive when working on complex issues. I’ve learned or taught myself various programming languages to better myself in my field, ranging from PowerShell to PowerON (a COBOL-like language used to connect Bank applications to databases).
I can work alone, in a group, or as a leader. Seeing a project come together and watching the end result be utilized to someone’s benefit is always exciting. I pride myself in my work ethic, enthusiasm, and capacity to very quickly learn/adopt new things.
Stephen at Play
I spend most of my time outside of work with my best friend – my wife Elyse, and our adopted son Kaden. We love adventuring and trying new things, whether that’s hiking, mountain biking, or being total foodies! While on our adventures, I work on my amateur photography.
In my spare time, I taught myself how to create Android Apps and even published one to the Play Store! It didn’t garner much success but it was exciting to learn the intricacies of all the moving pieces of an app. I learned so many things such as utilizing Amazon Dynamo DBs, Google Firebase, Android Studio, and much more. For the last year, I’ve been really enjoying all the new AI Art tools popping up, and I regularly compete in online AI art competitions (and I’ve won a few!). I generated a few of the images for this site with AI Art tools.
As lame as this may sound to some, I have been the leader for a guild in The Elder Scrolls Online video game for over 7 years. We have 500 members (maximum allowed) and I’m regularly scheduling events and teaching others boss fight mechanics or better ways to play the game.
I’m also an avid Mazda enthusiast who has put almost 200k miles on my 2014 Mazda 6 and recently got our dream car, a 2020 Mazda Miata RF. Driving isn’t just for getting to a destination, it’s about enjoying the drive, and that’s much easier with a car that is fun. Zoom-Zoom!
